I took ASL about 10 years ago in a class at Colorado Mountain College. (Even then, I was the oldest one in the class). There was no speaking in the class – only signing. Our final was to tell a story in sign – I chose to do the Tortoise and the Hare. At the time, a family lived next door to us with an adult son who was deaf and used ASL.
